  1. We have programme called Development Work, we have a Post 16 program which is about imparting employability skills and independent living. In the initial phase we approach our beneficiaries at a micro level where we engage with them on a one on one basis to ascertain information about them. Once that has been done we move into engaging with them on a meso level where we bring in family members to be part of the process. Requirement is for the individual and his support structure to journey together in this process until the beneficiary graduates the programme.

There is this one story where one of the young men in our Post 16 program shared. He was using drugs (Heroin) for over 16 years. He doesn’t remember himself as a sober person mainly because he has been using drugs for many years. This young man talks of all the missed opportunities he had. Of all these 16 years he has been using drugs, he wanted to stop but the drug he used was highly addictive and couldn’t live without it. He was despised by his community because he started committing crime to get money to feed this habit. According to him only if the community new how wanted to quit using this drug but didn’t have the support structure to help him. The audience, should be young people since they are the ones who are vulnerable to being targets. The community should be the one who is listening to this story so that they get to understand that sometimes these young people are not the perpetrators but the victims. The community should be the support structure that the young people especially need.
